What Irons Should You Have in Your Golf Bag?

The irons are the heaviest golf clubs that you will ever have in your bag at any given time. It is important that you are not carrying anything in your bag that you will not get the maximum benefit from. This is why it is important to pay attention to what you can actually benefit from using. You might want to leave a few clubs at home. Among the different things that you will need to keep in mind is that there are certain clubs which you will need to have regardless.

So, when you are packing you bag to hit the links, it is important to pay attention to the necessities as well as some of the specialty clubs you will need. It is also a good idea to make sure that you are weeding out the losers by hitting the driving range often. This will help in making sure that you have only what you will need in your bag so that you will be able to get the most out of your game every time that you play.

Necessary Irons

The first thing that you will need to pay attention to are all of the different irons which you will need to have in your bag regardless of your game and how you like to play. These will include all of the clubs from the 5 iron through the pitching wedge. Not even the beginner’s sets will go without these irons as they will help you to get exactly the loft that you will need on all of your approach shots while you are in the fairway and even from some of the less desirable lies that you might encounter while on the course.

Specialty Irons

There are a few specialty irons that you might want to consider putting into your bag. This will include all of the different kinds of sand irons that you will be able to use like the lob wedge and the gap wedge. These have lofts for a face which will get up to 60 degrees. It is important that you will be able to understand not only which of these that you want to have in your bag, but also how to use them. Many will consider the hybrid woods to be with the irons and you will need to decide whether these are right for your game.

Weeding Out Clubs

The best way to make sure that you have the irons that you need to have in your bag is to make sure that you are going to the driving range often. This will help in making sure that you are getting the kinds of clubs which will hit true every time. Rather than only hitting from the tee box on the driving range, you might also want to try some of the chipping irons from the green spaces. Also try the long irons like the 4, 3 and 2 irons to decide if they are right for you.
